DUBIOUS GLOOM (Juha Katila) – artist, producer and DJ – is a powerhouse rising from Finland’s underground electronic music scene.
He fuses hard-hitting drum grooves, dark basslines with striking melodies and sampling into a unique form of danceable, high-energy sound. His genres varies from club-friendly House and Electropop to gloomier Electronica and Drum & Bass.
With three albums, many singles, EPs and remixes to his name, his work is spreading from Finland’s dance clubs to global audiences. His track Cross was selected among the best Finnish electronic music tracks of 2021 by artist/DJ Rony Rex on his radio show on YleX. Dubious Gloom’s celebrated remixes, live performances and DJ sets have electrified clubs and events in Finland such as DJ gigs at the legendary LGBTQ+ club DTM in Helsinki.
Dubious Gloom is also part of the new two-member dance-pop act Big Boy Therapy with a fellow artist/DJ Peter Juhan. The original collaboration resulted in loading phase ep and now as band they have released their first single Unconventional Man.
Latest collaboration with Retropenu is the legendary Army of Lovers cover track Obsession.
Beyond music, Juha’s artistic background spans design, advertising and photography to additional ventures such as theater and sound design. His music reflects belief in embracing life’s best moments but also personal journey through depression and his identity as a proud yet introverted, artistic figure in the LGBTQ+ community.
